I am Chiquita N. Toure,"His Excavator". As a veteran educator-librarian of almost 30 years, I have served as both an ELA teacher and a school librarian. I instruct students at all academic levels including post-secondary. Together we scribe creative fiction and nonfiction, poetry and prose. In the process, I also teach and equip my students with research skills to dig out truth.

In my tenure as educator-librarian, I have been a recipient of numerous grants that support the work I do with school, nonprofits and faith based organizations, I help to establish safe spaces for young people to unpack thoughts, create new memories, curate ideas and write their lives. As storyteller and content curator, I also facilitate book clubs and book studies for students who desire to see themselves in the books they read. In 2018 I was awarded the Helen Jenkins Davis Award for my work as a librarian to support Social Justice initiatives for the  Columbus City Schools.
